Lawrence P. McNamara

Lawrence (Larry) P. McNamara, 70, of Floral Park, NY, passed away on July 28, 2017 at home

surrounded by his family.

Larry was born in Queens Village, NY on December 11, 1946 to Gerard and Mary McNamara,

and youngest brother to Elizabeth and John. Larry is survived by his wife, Ellen of 47 years;

children Heather, Kieran (Julieanne), Meghan (Joseph), and Maura (William) and nine

grandchildren Aidan, Liam, Kiera, Declan, Brendan, Maeve, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Patrick.  

Larry attended St. Joachim and Ann Elementary School in Queens Village, Archbishop Molloy High School,

and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University.

Larry served as a US Army Sergeant in Vietnam and was a police officer in the New York City

Police Department (81st Precinct). He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of

Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians, NYPD Emerald Society, and the New York 1013

Association.

Larry will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and neighbors as he lived his life in the service

of others. His faith and commitment to the Lord will provide comfort and solace to all those he

leaves behind.
