Ruth Munsinger

Ruth Munsinger was born in Ridgewood, Brooklyn, New York on April 22, 1938.  She was the third of four children born to Paul and Bertha Munsinger. The family moved to St. Albans, Queens in 1944.  Years later, in 1953, her oldest brother, Gil, died after a tragic automobile accident.

Prior to Ruth’s current employment of 41 years as a surgical coordinator at Long Island Jewish Hospital, she worked as Executive Secretary to Richard Cowell, a Park Avenue socialite and investor who led a Caribbean real estate development firm.  Before joining LIJ and after a brief jaunt in California, she worked at General Electric Corporation.

In her youth, she attended and received a godly foundation under the ministries of Hans Waldvogel and the associate ministers of the Ridgewood Pentecostal Church.  For years she gave herself to teaching Sunday School at Ridgewood and working on the staff at Pilgrim Camp.  She also served as a counselor at the Teen Challenge Walter Hoving Home  in Garrison, New York.

 Until the very end Ruth loved the Lord and His house.  For the last years she mainly attended Bethel Assembly of God Church in Franklin Square but also enjoyed the ministries and fellowship in several other Long Island churches including Calvary Full Gospel Fellowship in Floral Park.  She loved the preaching of God’s Word and the solid old hymns.

In addition to being survived by her two brothers, John (and wife Bertha) and Paul, she leaves behind seven nieces and nephews—Paul Daniel, Edward, Timothy, John Gil, Barbara, Daniel and Beth.  They were dear to her heart, and she spoke often of them, praying for them and their families to the very end.

Ruth, her smile, and her exuberant personality will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends.
