Tribute

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Angelina Persichilli, 89 of Floral Park, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 20th, at her upstate county home in Oneonta, New York. Better known as Angie, she was predeceased by her brother, Angelo Bologna of 41 years, her sister, Mary Nardone of 83 years, her mother Vita Bologna of 94 years and father Vincent Bologna of  95 years. She leaves behind children and their spouses, Susan Vota, James Vota, Dianne Tarangelo, Gary Tarangelo, Richard Persichilli, Edith Persichilli; seven grandchildren and spouses, Albert Vota, Linda Vota, Matthew Vota, Joloure Vota, Natalie Bowers, Justin Bowers, Nicholas Tarangelo, Leah Tarangelo, Sara Tarangelo, Sophia Persichilli and Richard Persichilli; eight great-grandchildren, Lydia Vota, Charlotte Vota, Evelyn Vota, Gavriel Vota, Luke Bowers, Noah Bowers, Amelia Bowers and Julia Tarangelo.  Born in Jamaica, New York she was the daughter of Vincent and Vita Bologna. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson high school in 1952.While in high school, she was recipient of the Scholar Athlete Award, Senior Class president, President of the school’s Honor Squad and the student government representative to the Borough of Queens.  She was a member of the Newman club which was a group of students who wanted to live out their Catholic faith in daily life. Angela excelled in the drawing, design and fabrication of clothing and other textiles.  Upon graduation, she was awarded a scholarship to the Fashion Institute of Technology which she attended for several years.  Angie married the love of her life, Albert in 1955 and moved to New Hyde Park in 1958.Together they raised 3 children. She was a devoted mother and wife who surrounded us with her love and was an inspirational role model for both family and friends. She was admired for her strength and eagerness to take on any task that was requested of her. She had a warm, light-hearted nature and the ability to make all around her smile.  Her culinary skills were exemplary. The aroma of homemade meals bubbling on the stove, friendly chatter and her infectious laugh became the hallmarks of home life with Angela at the helm.  She became an active member of Holy Spirit Parish, where her children attended school. She was a member of the women’s auxiliary in North Hills Country Club where she became an avid golfer and card player. She was president of the women’s auxiliary at the club and member for 50 years.  Her working years started at  Pan American World Airlines  where she was an executive assistant.  She then  worked with her husband at Enrico Contracting Company as the office manager.  Angela also found time to volunteer at Holy Spirit Catholic School as a teachers aid.  Later in life she was a travel agent and tour guide for foreign destinations.  Angie spent extended time with her family at their country home in Oneonta, New York where she enjoyed her horses, snowmobiling, fishing, hiking and gardening.  It was her favorite place to gather friends and family under one roof and enjoy the Catskill mountains. In later years, she spent winters at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida.  Angie’s passions were her children, grandchildren and her dedicated husband Albert of 68 years. She will be sorely missed.  Funeral services will be held at New Hyde Park Dalton Funeral Home on Hillside Avenue in New Hyde Park. Viewing will be on Saturday, February 24th from 4 to 7 PM, Sunday, February 25 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 26th at Our Lady of Victory Church in Floral Park, NY. at 10:30AM.
