Anna Casaceli

May 18, 1925 ~ August 30, 2020 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tribute

Anna Casaceli of North New Hyde Park, NY, devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, adored great-grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Godmother, passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, August 30, 2020 in the comfort and warmth of her home at the wise and beautiful age of 95.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents Anna and Dominic Basirico; her loving first husband Vincenzo Batteria and her beloved son Joseph Anthony Batteria; her brother Anthony, his wife Mary and their son Steven Basirico;  her Sister Josephine and her husband Benny Venezia.

Anna was also preceded by her most cherished, adored and admired husband Felix J. Casaceli, in 2016. The legacy of their love has inspired everyone fortunate enough to know them. Being in the presence of their love was a gift to all.

She longed to be reunited with these dearly departed souls, and now rests together with them in peace, in the hands of Our Heavenly Father.

Anna is succeeded by her brother and his wife, Ignazio and Ida Basirico; her grandchildren, Vincent and Melissa Batteria, Annmarie and Andrew Feiler, Isabel Batteria, Melissa and Spencer Hallett, Lauren and Carlo DeMarco, Steven Frink, Kyle Frink and Stacy Vito; her step-daughters and their husbands, Tanya Casaceli Frink and CG Frink, and Joyann Casaceli Makarewicz and John Makarewicz.

Anna is also succeeded by her doting great-grandchildren, Alexandra Batteria, Mackenzie Kahl, Andrew Batteria, Patrick Morin, Yosef Feiler, Ari Feiler, Alexander Zourides, Sophia Morin, Lilyana DeMarco, Giovanni DeMarco; and her Godson and his wife Joseph and Mercy Venezia.

Being the epitome of strength, longevity, loyalty and pure love, Anna reigned as Matriarch of her very large and closely knit family including nieces and nephews, Cathy and John Sanchi, Barbara and Jan Slensky, Jerry and Terry Fragala, Diane and Peter LaFranca, Dominic and Anthony Basirico, and all of their children.

Anna was known and loved for her fierce loyalty, and gracious leadership. She was the keeper of her family's traditions and has passed on her parents' values with the greatest of care and respect.  She was the Queen. Her delicious Italian cooking, beautiful craftwork in crochet and needlepoint, and her vibrant art are all coveted by all of her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her keen humor and love of adventure are legendary.

Her smile, her love and her feisty legacy will live on forever in our hearts. Our memories of her will serve as a blessing and comfort at this time. To speak of loss on this day would be unfitting, as Anna has given more than we could have ever asked for.  Today we celebrate her life and legacy.
