Psalm 116: 15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints”
In 97 years my grandma survived a war that shook the world, as a woman in 1940’s fascist Italy earned her doctorate, emigrated to not only a new country but an entirely new continent, had a love story that rivaled centuries of literature and decades of Hollywood, and saw the expansion of the family into four generations. She instilled in her children, grandchildren, and me personally the joy of a “beautiful tomato”, the simplicity of a well set table, the gift of unconditional love, knowledge is a lifetime pursuit, and the importance of faith as the unshakable foundation of all else.
Earlier today she embarked on her last adventure in this world and joined the love of her life in the next.
Dearest grandma, you lived a life of love and service that has inspired generations beyond you. May this next adventure be worthy of you and may you find eternal peace. Into the heavens may the Angel’s lead you.
“For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.”
