Arthur William Reiss Jr. succumbed to cancer on May 16, 2022. He is survived by children Nora Reiss (Tom Bugg), Karen Rossomando (Anthony), and Arthur Reiss (Laila) as well as grandchildren Jonathan Bugg, Anthony and AnneMarie Rossomando, and Sophia Sattar-Reiss. He is also survived by four great  grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Reiss in 2011, his mother, Anna Crimmins; sister, Arlene Morey and brother Eddie Crimmins.

Artie was born in the Bronx, NY on June 11, 1934 and then moved to Brooklyn, NY.  He served in the Army during the Korean war from 1954 to 1956.  He worked as a mechanic for R and W Motors followed by the US Postal Service from 1983 to 2009 where he was recognized by his peers and supervisors for his teamwork and quality of his work.

A long time resident of South Floral Park, he was a member of the village’s fire department where he ultimately served two terms as department chief. Throughout his life Artie enjoyed boating, gardening and fishing. He was well known by his neighbors in the community for puttering around his garage and yard on various projects.

Kids including his own grand and great grandchildren loved spending time with him. Artie was a big man with an over the top voice and gestures to match!
