Tribute

Eileen Dunne Ashton, of Hicksville, NY passed away July 24, 2021, after a day of celebration surrounded by much of her family.  She was born December 17, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY and was the second of nine children. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Patrick, and sons Michael and Joseph, daughters-in-law Madeline and Anabella, grandchildren Cassandra, Vincent, Lennon, Joseph, Melody and James, sisters Margie, Patricia and Bonnie, brothers through marriage Wayne and Joe, sister-in-law Constance Ashton, nieces, nephews, and their husbands and wives.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia and Vincent, brothers Edward, Vincent, Joseph and Thomas, and sister Dorothy and brothers through marriage Les and Al. Eileen retired from Laffey Real Estate after 37 years. Leenie loved butterflies, gardening, and visiting Las Vegas, but most of all she loved and lived for her family. Leenie was the matriarch and glue to her family, and loved teaching them traditions, stories, and songs, as she formed a special bond with every person in her life. She was also a gifted writer and poet and shared her stories through that talent. As in life, her stories will now be repeated and retold and cherished by her loved ones. She leaves this world a kinder, warmer, more positive place. A time of gathering will be held on July 28 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thomas F.
