Frances Saverin Carroll, born August 16, 1941 passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020. Loving mother to John Carroll, Traci Dos Santos and Beth & Robert Dixon. Beloved grandmother to Molly, Liam, Jack, Sofia, Lily and Annie.
Fran cherished her children and grandchildren. She especially loved her role as Amma and embraced every moment with them. She loved family vacations at the beach, taking the kids to the carousel at Greenport, getting Italian ices, taking the grandkids shopping for anything and everything they wanted! She loved the theatre, taking road trips and spending time with cherished friends.
Fran was strong in her convictions of equality and social justice. As a lawyer and judge she had the distinct opportunity to “administer justice” as she liked to say. This drive in her to help others led to her spending countless hours volunteering at Ground Zero after the attacks on September 11. Although this time spent led to her long, courageous battle with cancer we are honored that her name will be inscribed on the 9/11 Memorial Wall and that she will never be forgotten.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center at giving.mskcc.org.
