Lauria, Francis J. (Frank) - Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 17 at the age of 83. Loving husband of his late wife, Maureen. Cherished friend and long-time companion of Barbara Whelan of New Canaan, CT. Devoted father of Theresa (Gary), Kathleen (William), Mary Ann (Thomas), Francis (Maura), William (Elizabeth) and Joseph (Ronda). Proud grandfather of Kelly, Kerri, Colleen (Randall), Francis, William, Kaitlin, Brian, Erin, Christopher John, Christopher James and Jamie. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Josephine (Cuomo) and Charles Lauria, he was a loving brother to his sisters the late Rosemarie O’Grady (John) and Louise Longobardi (Dominic).
After moving his family from Brooklyn to Floral Park in the early 60’s, Frank went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from New York University. He raised his six children in the Village of Floral Park, and served as Mayor in the 1980’s. He served as the Commissioner of Purchasing for the Town of Hempstead, before retiring and moving to the mountains of the Berkshires where he was active in local politics. He loved music and was a talented pianist. He loved to golf, cook, and garden and was great at them all. He was a proud American who loved his country. More than anything, he loved his family who will miss him dearly for the loving father and grandfather he was.
