On Sunday, January 3, 2021, James Hodnett, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 78. He was born on July 13, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY. He attended William E. Grady Career and Technical and Education High School and was a member of the Wynn Center Drum & Bugle Corp.
James’ began his career as a film editor for Bell & Howell and later worked as a chauffeur for executives in the New York area until his retirement in 2008. He married Priscilla Ann Knight on July 14, 1973 and they raised two sons, David and Michael.
James was an avid chess player and had a passion for music, evidenced by his extensive record collection and performances with his singing group during his teenage years. He enjoyed watching action movies and working on his computer and rarely missed an opportunity to savor his favorite dessert, ice cream. He treasured time with his grandchildren more than anything. James was known for his down-to-earth personality, quick wit and compassionate spirit. Everyone knew him as the “just coolest guy they know.”
James was preceded in death by his mother, Edith, and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla, their two sons, David and Michael, his daughter, Kim, his sisters, Louise and Shirley, his grandchildren, Isabella, Madison, Brooke, Logan, Parker, MacKenzie, Sullivan and Marcus and many nieces and nephews.
