John Candia

John is the devoted father of Joseph, Steven, John and Christine, and loving grandfather of Robert and Jessica. He is the former husband and cherished friend of Donna Candia.

John is the brother of Pierina McGreevy and the late Nancy Modera. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many wonderful friends.

John’s life was full of laughter and love. He took immense pride in the achievements of his children and grandchildren (which he made clear to just about everyone). John was an incredibly talented artist and musician, both of which brought him tremendous joy his entire life. He loved to share his work and passion for the arts with others.

John served eight years in the United States Army National Guard, achieving the rank of E-5. John is a proud alumnus of Saint John’s University, earning his Bachelor’s degree with high honors at age 41. He had a long and successful career in finance with The Equitable Life Assurance Society for over 40 years. John was loyal and supportive to all who knew him, and was a friend of Bill W.’s for 13 years.

John will be fondly remembered as a humorous and joyful spirit and a caring, wonderful man.
