Tribute

John K. Moloughney of Floral Park, NY passed away on November, 5th, 2019.  He was surrounded by his beloved daughters. John was born on February, 14th, 1945. He is survived by his daughters Jennifer Brodman (Joe), Christine Froman (Eric), Patricia Moloughney and Jessica Moloughney; his sister Maureen Moloughney (Avrum); his sister-in-law Judy Moloughney; grandchildren Kayla Brodman, Julia Brodman, Garrett Froman and Alexandra Froman; cherished nieces, nephews (by marriage) and grand nieces and nephews. John’s father Walter Moloughney Sr., mother Margaret Moloughney and brother Walter Moloughney Jr. preceded him in death.

John was a lifelong resident of Floral Park. His greatest pride and joy were here his 4 daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his daughters grow up in the same town that he did as a child. He was a proud member of the Floral Park Fire Department, serving Active Company 3 for just shy of 50 years.

Reeves Park in Riverhead, NY was John’s second home. Throughout his childhood and adult years he would spend his summers at this wonderful beach community, Where Friends are Family, on the eastern end of Long Island and he shared his love for this community with his children as they grew up.

John was always there for his family and friends, even if it required heavy lifting and crossing state lines. Those were actually his favorite events to be a part of. A lifelong truck driver, John enjoyed navigating the highways using his Hagstrom map as his guide. John loved watching the New York Giants and Jets, catching up on current events in the local community newspapers The Gateway and Riverhead News Review and imparting words of fatherly wisdom and advice such as always have something on your feet, don’t leave the house without your jacket, don’t forget to turn the lights off and what you know and what you do are two different things.

John’s greatest accomplishment was being a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed.
