John W. Ohrnberger passed away on November 19, 2021. John was happily married to Mary (Leahy) for 62 years as well as a loving father to John and Lori Ohrnberger, Ellen Leon, Jean and Ian Levy and Anne Ressa. He was a devoted grandpa to Michael and Rachel, John and Emily, Neal and Jack, Isabel, Ashley and Charlotte and great grandpa to Violet and Hunter. John was brother to Charles (deceased) and sister, June and brother-in-law to Dianne, Frank (deceased), Raul and Annamay (deceased).
Born and raised in the Bronx, he went to work at the age of 18 as a sheet metal worker for the Brooklyn Navy Yard, followed by proud service with the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Korea, then 25 years with NY telephone/Verizon until his retirement.
John and Mary raised four children in the Bronx to Queens to Manhasset and finally to Levittown where this journey gathered a great collection of friends. John was incredibly proud of his family and had an iron-clad work ethic. A man of character, “Johnny O” was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made To Good Shepherd Hospice, Mercy Hospital in Rockville Center. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Monday November 22 from 3-7pm at Daltons Funeral Home on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown. A Mass will be held at St. Raphael Parish Catholic Church at 600 Newbridge Road, East Meadow Road on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 10.45am, followed by Committal Service at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale
