Tribute

Marjorie E. Haywood passed away on March 19, 2018 following a brief illness. She was born in Richmond Hill, Queens on April 20, 1934. After graduation from John Adams High School in 1952, Margie went to work for the Bank of New York at 48 Wall Street, NYC.  She spent most of her 47 year career in the Personal Trust Administration Department. She was a member of the Bank of New York’s bowling league, winning numerous trophies. Upon retirement, Margie joined many Floral Park community organizations becoming an active member. It wasn’t long before she was serving on committees of organizations such as, The Over Fifty Club, The AHRC, AARP, The Woman’s Club and Mercy League. In her spare time, Margie liked to crochet, needlepoint, read and travel. One of her favorite places was her front stoop, where she could visit with her neighbors, watch the birds and meet new people.

Margie married Robert W. Vance, Sr., in 2002 and was introduced to The Masons organization. Here she readily participated in their many activities. She was predeceased by Bob in 2014.

She was the older sister to Barbara E. Wade and cherished aunt to Barbara’s 4 (four) children, Barbara Anne, Thomas, Owen (wife Mineko) and Elizabeth, who will carry on her loving memory. Margie is also survived by her cousins, David Andersen (Kathy), Peter, Howard Andersen (Rosemary), Janice Wilson (Mickey) and her father’s wife, Olivia Haywood. She was predeceased by her sister in 2016.

Margie seemed to make friends where ever she went and her loss is felt by many. In her memory, reach out to those you meet, if only to share a warm” Hello”
