It is with great sadness, we regretfully inform you of the passing of Dr. Ramkumar Panhani, 65, on the 11th of September, 2020.

Ramkumar was born on June 4 1955 in Hyderabad, India to Lt. Col. Bansilal Panhani, MD. and Shakuntala Khosla.  He attended Hyderabad Public School and then went on to medical school at both Osmania University in Hyderabad and Kakatiya Medical College graduating in August of 1979.

Ram and Hemwati got married and he came to the United States in 1981.  During the early years of their marriage, they traveled extensively where he showed Hema the different parts of India, exposing her to the many different cultures that exist there.  Eventually they settled in Flushing, NY and began a family.

He took the medical licensing exam to be able to practice as a physician in New York.  Following this he accepted a residency and pulmonary fellowship at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where his career took off.  He eventually opened his own private practice in Forest Hills, N.Y. before moving it to Queens Village.  He had hospital privileges at North Shore University Hospital, LIJ, and Flushing Hospital.  Dr. Panhani also worked at several nursing homes in Queens and the Bronx.

He was very dedicated to his patients.  Dr. Panhani was known to his colleagues, residents, nurses, and patients as a compassionate, and caring physician.  He volunteered often with different medical missions such as Guyana Watch where he provided his medical services to the public.  He was always ready to provide his medical assistance to people and in times of crisis, such as, Hurricane Katrina.

Dr. Ramkumar Panhani is survived by his wife Hemwati, his two children, Monica Gayathri and Ajay Krishna, an uncle Rt. Brig. Motilal Panhani, aunt Sophie, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, and nieces.  He was predeceased in death by his parents.  Dr. Ramkumar Panhani was an incredible husband and father, and he will be missed dearly.
