Catherine Cecilia LeGoff

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Catherine LeGoff. She passed on May 11, 2023 in Bethpage, NY at the age of 93. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who lived a long and joyous life.

Born Catherine McCormick on May 10, 1930 on the West Side of Manhattan, she was the youngest of 10 children. Catherine was proud of her “Hells Kitchen” upbringing and spoke always of the love she had for her large Irish family.

Catherine married Louis LeGoff in 1951 and moved to Flushing, Queens in 1959. She and Louie created a wonderful life in Electchester with their four children; Louis, Nora (James) Edward ( Anna) and Charles surrounded by many of her loving siblings from Manhattan.

Her door was always open to relatives, friends and neighbors as she built a joyous and kind life for her family never thinking about herself as she cared for others. Cramming family into her two bedroom apartment, she would laughingly cry “ I don't know what I'm eating” but it never deterred her from having another guest come in the door.

Catherine was always ready for a good time and loved to dance at weddings, parties and even in the apartment. Her wonderful spirit and constant optimism were a joy to behold and brought a smile to everyone's face even when Louie would say “ Catherine!!”.

Catherine was widowed in 1999 and became Nana to her two grandsons, Christian and Paul (Alicia). Later in 2014, Nana became a great grandmother to Madison followed by Mackenzie in 2018. Catherine celebrated her 93rd birthday on May 10th 2023 with a wonderful party surrounded by her family and friends as was fitting for the life of joy and fun that she always portrayed. On May 11th, 2023 she passed peacefully in her apartment. Her family will continue to remember her kind and loving spirit as her relatives welcome her in heaven. Watch out, Louie! Here she comes.

Her wake is on Monday May 22, 4:00 pm to 8:00 at Dalton's Funeral Home, 47 Jerusalem Ave. Hicksville, NY . The funeral Mass is Tuesday May 23, 10:00am at Holy Family Church, 175-20 74th Ave, Queens NY 11366.
