Elizabeth Boland

Elizabeth Boland, of Island Trees/Levittown, passed away suddenly on October 21st, 2020, leaving a big hole in a lot of hearts. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Boland, her dear stepdaughter, Peggy Davis, her treasured grandson Matthew Davis, her family of cats, and many other loving relatives and friends. Beth was known for her intelligence, kindness, empathy, good humor, and can-do attitude.  A graduate of Fordham University, she enjoyed an almost 30-year career in the Island Trees School district, where she was known as an outstanding teacher and a well-loved colleague and friend to those with whom she worked.  After her retirement she became active in the Retired Teachers of Island Trees NYSUT group, and served as editor for the chapter’s newsletter for many years.

Her interests were many and varied and often tilted to the creative:  sketching, painting, furniture refinishing, piano playing, theater-going, reading, cooking, and gardening. She also loved history, was fascinated by archeology, and was known to say that she hoped to come back as a singing archeologist in her next life.  A true animal lover, she has rescued many dogs and cats over her lifetime. Perhaps most of all, she was a collector of people.  She saw the good in people, recognized their uniqueness, and accepted them without judgment.  She wove family and friends together in an ever inclusive network of love.  All in all, she was a very beautiful woman of grace, generosity, and dignity.  She will be dearly missed and dearly remembered.

Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, October 25th at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home in Levittown, N.Y.  Masking and maintaining social distance will be in effect.
