Heather Dianne Barham Arrue

Beloved Mother, Sister, Friend and Veteran

 

Heather, 59, of Bellerose Village, passed away on January 5, 2019 due to complications related to COPD.  

Heather Barham was born December 4, 1959 in Worcester, Massachusetts. The family moved to New York in 1968 when Heather was in 4th grade.  Heather graduated Sewanhaka High School in 1978. She went on to complete some degree work at Nassau Community College. Heather was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1984.

 

Heather raised her children in Bellerose Village while working as a cashier at Pathmark Supermarket in Garden City Park and was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. She was an active member in Eastern Star, the Floral Park United Methodist Church, and American Legion. Heather’s many roles in Eastern Star included the State of New York Representative for the State of Maryland and Matron of her Chapter.

 

Heather was an avid gardener and lover of all animals. She is remembered fondly for her kindness, sense of humor, and her hard-working nature. Heather was always willing to lend a hand and was quick to comfort friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. In addition to her volunteer work, Heather was a loving and devoted mother to her children, Dianne, Victoria, and Fernando Arrue, and was dedicated to her partner, Joseph Spagna.

 

Heather is survived by her long-time partner Joseph Spagna, her two children, Fernando Arrue and Victoria Kifer and son-in-law Michael Kifer; her four siblings, Thomas Barham, Blaine Barham, Celeste Barham, and Robin Henken. Heather was predeceased by her loving father and mother, Thomas and Joan Barham, of Bellerose Village, and her daughter, Dianne Marie Arrue.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the Dianne Marie Arrue Memorial Award at St John’s University: St John’s University, Attn: Gift Processing, 8000 Utopia Parkway, Queens,  New York 11439.
