John Michael Psotto

John Michael Psotto, 71, of Clark, New Jersey died Thursday, April 6, 2017.   John was born in the Bronx and raised in Hicksville, Long Island, NY.   A proud graduate of Hicksville High School (1963) and University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1967) which he attended on a full Naval R.O.T.C. scholarship.  Upon graduation, he was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy where he served off the coast of Viet Nam and in other Pacific and U.S. locations (1967 – 1971).

After a mid-management career in private industry (including Lancôme Cosmetics in both New Jersey and Chicago), John followed the path of his father and maternal grandfather in joining the U.S. Post Office where he worked as a supervisor in Rahway for many years before his retirement. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #5 Rahway, the Clark VFW post, the Rahway Knights of Columbus #1146 and the Deutscher Club of Clark. John is predeceased by his parents John Carl Psotto and Grace Jean (Kernan) Psotto.  He is survived by a sister, Joan Psotto of Hicksville, NY and long-time companion and fiancé, Marlene Plaza of Clark.  Also surviving are devoted uncle and friend, Donald Kernan of Astoria, NY, beloved Aunt, Helen Psotto of Great River, NY, many first and second cousins, and three devoted felines – Robin Hood, Mr. Darcy and Quincy. Mass of Christian Burial, St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Broadway (Route 107), Hicksville NY at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 12th immediately followed by Interment at Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
