Tribute

Philip M. DeMottie of Long Beach passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on March 30, 2021. Philip was born on July 3, 1927 to Joseph and Catherine DeMottie in New York, where he was raised on the lower Eastside.

Devoted husband of 30 years to Marilyn (Paoline) until her passing in 1989. Together they had 3 children in Copiague New York.

Philip was also a cherished companion to the late Catherine Troiano for over 20 years.

Philip is survived by his Loving children Joseph (Tina), Michele, Philip (Susanne) DeMottie and Adoring Grandchildren Angela, Marilyn, Alexander, Katie, Diana, and Emma. 

Dear Brother of Angelina, fond Uncle to Nieces Linda, Cathy, and  late Nephew, Robert Rodgers. Survived by his great nephews Philip Rodgers (Godson) and Robert Gandolfo.

Philip served in the US Army during World War II as a medic. The war ended before he was sent overseas as he took credit for the victory by saying “They surrendered when they heard I was coming”.

Philip loved his family and friends, bowling, golfing, The Yankees, and above all making people smile.

Phil would refer to himself as “The Kid” he would always end a conversation by saying “Let me know if I can do anything for you” He will always be remembered as a true gentleman who was kind, generous, thoughtful, and had a Sweet tooth as sweet as his soul.
